Welcome to South Bristol Climate Hub!

Welcome to South Bristol Climate Hub!

South Bristol Climate Hub (SBCH) is a self-organising, member-led network of over 300 local people who want to build a better future. We live and work across the area, and we care about climate, nature, biodiversity and community resilience.

We connect, organise, share ideas and info through our well-run (if we may say so ourselves) Whatsapp Community, and we meet up in real life at our quarterly Green Drinks, regular Climate Cafes, book swaps and one-off activities and events. We have also recently started a new in-person monthly Community Climate Action Group, in partnership with Windmill Hill City Farm.

Our members have varied interests and participate in ways which suit them; we have craftivists, letter-writers, peaceful protesters, nature connectors, politics-watchers/engagers, slow travellers, seasoned and accidental campaigners, parents, children, retirees. We are a rich and beautiful fellowship.

Everyone is welcome, whether you are a seasoned climate or community organiser, or want to take your first steps to creating the best possible local future.   Most of our activities are family friendly, or family-compatible, and we try to make our events accessible to all.

Membership is free and open to anyone in or around South Bristol, UK. Joining just means joining our WhatsApp Community, which is gently stewarded by a small group of volunteers who will welcome you and show you around. There you can find out what is going on, opt in to topics that interest you, and join with others to effect change. The ideas and energy for action come from our members. We know that time and energy for this stuff comes and goes, so you are invited to step in loudly and get involved, or just quietly join and lurk for a while. Whatever works for you right now. What are you waiting for?

What does SBCH do?

South Bristol Climate Hub (SBCH) is lots of different things to different people. We connect people, organisations, campaigns, activities across South Bristol, with a focus on climate, nature and biodiversity, and community resilience.

Our community is structured across sub-groups so you can concentrate on the issues that are important to you without being overwhelmed.

We recognise that everyone can do something, but nobody can do everything.

Our sub-groups help to connect you with other local people who care about the same things as you, and reflect all the ways we can make change, together and as individuals.   Some of our current sub-groups are:
